Remote Access to Computer - Remote Desktop Protocol RDP

Can I connect to my computer from home?

The parish IT Department can configure your desktop workstation to be accessed remotely using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP).  Your office computer must be kept on for this functionality.  (You do not have to be logged in, however.)

If you would like this functionality, submit a new support ticket request for IT to configure and provide you a special port number.  Please submit the IP address(es) of the home or remote network(s) with your request.  We're looking for your IPv4 address which can be obtained at http://ip4.me/.

Remote Desktop (RDP)  Open Remote Desktop from either a Mac or PC.  You will be issued custom port number for your PC.  You will enter this at the end of the "computer" name as illustrated below.  It may be 4-6 numbers.  Your user name is first initial, last name... as in jdoe.  When you click "connect", you will be asked for your password (which is your network/computer password).  You will then have full access to your desktop computer as if you were in your office.

IT Note:  Modify HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\TerminalServer\WinStations\RDP-Tcp\PortNumber, then restart
